Dale Edie

We were in the presence of sports greatness when we interviewed Dale Edie.
In 1995 he was a gold medal swimmer at the Special Olympic World Games. He started swimming at a young age and took to water “like a fish.” He has over 150 medals in sports competition in swimming, softball and track. In 2002 Dale was inducted in to the Hancock County Sports Hall of Fame.
In his travels he has met President Clinton, Daryl Strawberry and Lee Greenwood. He no longer competes but is an avid football fan rooting for the Eagles and Steelers. He was proudly wearing an Ohio State Championship shirt when we met him.
He graduated in 1994 from Blanchard Valley School and entered the workplace. He currently works at Industries doing assembly for them.
Dale is known also for his ability to do sign language to music. He performs God Bless the USA and brings the audience to tears. He has performed at weddings, funerals, patriotic events and more. He has preformed over 200 times.
Dale likes to bowl in his free time and is in two different leagues. Dale is 42 and still very young at heart. He has a black lab named Riley who is his buddy. Dale definitely is a role model to us all.
