If you or a loved one have had to be treated in the emergency room at Blanchard Valley Hospital in the past six years chances are you were under the care of Ashley Kear, an E.R. nurse. Ashley received her nursing degree from Owens Community College and is attending Lourdes to earn her Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Ashley’s goal is to get her Master’s degree and become a Nurse Practitioner as she does not believe she has met her full potential yet.
Due to her expertise and excellent patient care Ashley just received the honors of being named the Nurse of the Year at BVH. She loves her BVH with close friends and a chance to learn and grow with her job.

She loves the ER with it’s amount of diversity between patients from non urgent to life threatening cases. “I love to try to figure out what is wrong with my patients.” She works a 12 hour shift on a good day but you can’t leave your patients so some days become 16 hours or so long. She was honored for her hard work, dedication and passion for her work. She states, “I believe in blooming where you are planted. Be happy where you are.”

Born in Findlay  Ashley attended Pandora-Gilboa high school but returned to Findlay because she loves the size and feel of the city.

In addition to her hospital care she has been on several missions to Haiti to be a triage nurse for surgeries performed on patients there by Dr. Browning. It is a risk and she caught a chicken virus which gave her a 105 degree temperature, rash and chills, but she persevered and did her job.

Single but attached and in love, she spends her time with family and with her new English bulldog Caesar. She is a thrill seeker and loves white water trips and hiking in Pennsylvania and W. Virginia.

Her motto she strives to live by is, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you respond.”

Her parents, both Whirlpool employees worked up to 80 hour weeks to provide their children with opportunities they did not have including college. They instilled a strong work ethic in Ashley.
