Kathy Rayle

Kathy Rayle serves the multiple disability students of the district at Glenwood Middle School.

She has 8 students with a variety of disabilities. She will have them all three grades (6-8th) and develops a very close relationship with them. It is not uncommon for them to call her mom at times during their tenure with her. She also has hearing impaired students so she has learned Exact English signing.

She earned a degree at Bowling Green in Education as a Deaf/hearing impaired intervention specialist with a K-12 certification. She was inspired by her younger brother who is deaf.
She has taught at Findlay City Schools since 2009. This was a second career for her and she enjoyed being a non-traditional student. She loves her position with these children.
She is also teaching students at Glenwood cooking classes after school as part of their daily living skills education.

Kathy moved with her husband to Findlay in 1998 and they have two sons and one daughter and seven grandbabies. She also has a furry baby named Max. She was one of six children and it was her hearing impaired brother who taught her a strong sense of humor.

In her free time she makes beautiful quilts and vacations in Michigan during the Summer. They have a pontoon boat and many friends and family come to visit.

Amy Holdread, her best friend’s mother, was a mentor to Kathy as “she spurred me to do things, had great wisdom and would sit and listen to me.” Her quote comes from her student teaching advisor, Beth Swecker, “Progress, not perfection.”
