Brett Thomas

For almost five years we have been blessed, rain, sleet, snow or heat to have Brett Thomas as our mail carrier. He is very pleasant, friendly and the people and even the dogs on the route like him. Our dog used to meet him two houses down and escort him to our house. It was part of their daily routine.

As a graduate of BGSU with a B.A. in Communications Brett wasn’t sure which direction to go. He had been a DJ on campus for a year but the pay for full time DJ wasn’t the best. He worked for Enterprise for two years. He then moved to the Tiffin Development Center as a case worker for those disabled.

He was encouraged by a friend to take the civil service test to be a postal worker. He worked part time in Fostoria delivering mail before a full time positon opened in Bucyrus. He traveled there for 18 months before a position opened in Findlay and he came home.
He has been with the postal service for 11 years now and plans to keep going through retirement. “I enjoy walking, delivering mail, meeting the people and pets on my route” he states.

Brett has a 7 year old son and a 2 and one-half year old daughter who are active in soccer, baseball and starting dance. He also has a furry buddy who he named Oscar, because he is so grouchy.

When not delivering mail Brett loves pro sports and follows basketball, football and baseball. He is very active in a fantasy baseball league which is very in depth with stats, trading etc. He also like to camp and being out doors.

His dad provided him with a strong work ethic as a principal as a high school. Brett also has a younger brother and sister.

He describes Findlay as a “nice city with a much improved downtown” and he likes to walk and explore the downtown shops and restaurants.
