Makayla Slough

We have found another presidential candidate! The down side is that she is only 14 years old. Makayla Slough is a freshman wonder girl due to the service she provides to our little community.

For the past four years she has volunteered at Special Kids Therapy assisting with children with disabilities. This allows the children to go on various activities that they would normally be limited to doing. This includes a trip to African Safari, swimming, movies and bowling. Makayla joins with one child and helps them to eat, participate, and be free to be a kid as much as possible. After 4 years she has be promoted to over see other volunteers and programs.

In addition, she was just accepted into the Candy Striper program at BVH. There, she comforts and speaks with patients, brings magazines and flowers and serves the patients in any way she can.

Makayla is an A student, a distinguished honor roll member, loves language arts and aspires to be a constitutional lawyer as she believes the constitution should be left as the founding fathers wrote it. One day she would love to be in a position to defend it in court. She has mapped out her entire high school career with honor classes and should have enough college credits to offset her freshman year of college.

She is active in sports playing center back in soccer and has been a post player at her middle school in basketball. She spent several years in Colorado and learned to snowboard.

Makayla was selected by Camp Fire in 2016 to receive the “Absolutely Incredible Kid” award for her good grades, attitude and her involvement in her Findlay community.

Her strength and inspiration has been her father who raised her for many years as a single dad, “He supports me, my choices and decisions and we have a very good relationship.”
