Kathleen Crates
You may recognize our next spotlight as she spent 35 years in the Findlay City Schools system as a teacher, vice-principal and principal at Donnell and FHS.
Kathleen Crates taught special education and then was mentored to go on with her education and get her Doctorate in Education Administration at BGSU. She already had a BA from the University of Findlay (Findlay College) and a Masters from BGSU.
She is a true Findlayite as she is the 4th generation of her family to live here and she loves it. After she retired she was hired by the U of F to be an adjunct professor in the Education department.
She keeps busy with bible studies, photography, reading and flower arrangement and wants to travel to the Bible lands and Ireland. She attends Millstream for their adult education classes.
Her motto is “Do what is right. Love what is good. Walk Humbly with God.”
Her role models are her parents as her mom was very Victorian and spoke several languages and her dad was a renaissance man and there was always lots of love. Her other role model is Mother Theresa who had intense passions for the sick and underprivileged.
She has been married to Fred for 51 years and they have two children and five grandbabies
