Joy Bennett
Dressed in a green sun dress and her trademark low converse sneakers Joy Bennett gave us a few minutes out of her busy schedule to chat about her work at the Hancock Historical Museum as Curator and Archivist.
A graduate of Defiance college with a Bachelor’s in History, she then moved up to BGSU where she picked up dual Master’s degrees in History and Museum Studies. She originally wanted to be a history professor but after a class in archives and seeing history come alive she changed her focus to museums. Currently she is in charge of preserving and organizing artifacts, letters, pictures and exhibit set up. She writes up the guides for tours and is responsible for reliably restoring antiques.
Joy moved to Findlay three years ago to take her position at the museum and loves the “tight-knit” community.
She loves classic movies, is an avid reader of the classics and spends some of her free-time visiting other museums. One day her dream is to work at the Henry Ford or Smithsonian museums.
Stop by the museum and see her new art exhibit on Chris Kohli, an artist who perished in a fire here in Findlay.
