Melissa Park-Hanneman

Melissa Park-Hanneman is a character and she loves it. She is a US Navy veteran, an adopted mom, a photographer and a volunteer extraordinaire. Melissa moved a lot as a child and when she was 18 she joined the Navy and saw the world taking tours no one else wanted.

After four years she settled in Texarkana where she went to college and studied Criminal Justice. She became a case manager for the state of Texas. It was in Texarkana she met her husband. She calls him “a good catch!”

While studying drug and alcohol counseling she met her adopted daughter’s birthmother. Unable to have children of her own she was very excited when she and her husband were chosen to have a new baby girl placed in their life. Their daughter came into their home on Melissa’s 33rd birthday.

They moved to Findlay three years ago to let her husband take a job transfer with Cooper Tire.

Melissa believes in being active and involved in her community and is a child advocate with CASA, a photographer with Help Portraits and any other volunteer opportunities that come her way.
When not actively being a mom and a CASA advocate she loves to attend auctions to get old furniture to repurpose. She is a female handy man and is rebuilding her front porch. She and her family are protected by 3 cats and a rescue dog named Dougie.

Her life creed is “Over, under, around and through.” “Nothing is insurmountable!”

Her mom is her idol . She raised her brother and herself for six years as a single mom. She is a survivor of Stage 4 cancer. When her mom lost her hair from treatment Melissa shaved her head also to share the experience with her mother.
