When a patient arrives at Promedica Center for Mental Health and Well-being they are often struggling and possibly in crisis mode. Their first contact is with Michelle Vaughn who greets every one with their name, a smile and a reassuring look directly into their eyes. She gives them the respect they may not feel for themselves. She has been the face of the Center for almost seven years.

After receiving her Office Management degree from Owens community College she was looking for a place where she could make a difference in each patient’s life. She has even won awards for her caring (beyond the scope of her job) efforts with her clients.

“I love patient advocating especially in the mental health field where there is a underrepresentation of providers and services.”

When not at work she loves to walk, read watch movies and hang out with her children and friends. She has a son and a daughter both in college but fortunately still live at home. Michelle also has three sisters.

Her mantra is “Kindness is the most important thing in a person.”

Michelle has her parents to thank for her kindness. She also had a bank manager Martha Kingseed who showed by example how to treat people and a good work ethic.

She plans to say where she is at for a long time, “I don’t want to leave where I can make a difference.”
