Cameron Smith

Cameron Smith is a proud US Army veteran. He served four years based both in Hawaii and in Afghanistan. He spent a year in the SE region of Afghanistan as a 11C Infantryman/Mortar man and was assigned to monitoring the base perimeter for insurgents. He also used his carpentry skills to build a number of facilities for his unit.

Cameron is a native Findlayite and graduated from Findlay High School after spending most of his academic time at Heritage Christian School. He played soccer for HC school. He plans to attend the University of Findlay with his GI bill and major in accounting. Currently he works at GSW making auto parts for Toyota.

He is 23 years old and engaged to Korrie whom he met in Hawaii and brought her home with him. They have two dogs, Yeager and Athena and two cats, Persephone and Nyx.

The local Veterans Agency has been very helpful in his transition back in society. There have been some struggles as he tries to get back in to school and find his niche. He struggles with PTSD and that affects his sleep with night terrors.

He loves to work with wood building or making furniture. It gives him pride to see “Look what I just did.” He loves to be outside with Korrie and the dogs.

His role model is his brother Trevor who served in the Marine Corps. “I always looked up to him, his work ethic, excelled in everything especially sports.”

Cameron likes the motto, “Life is too short to live the same day twice.”
