Linda DeArment

We had the privilege to sit down with Linda DeArment, the Chief Development Officer for the Blanchard Valley Health System. She is responsible for raising money for the health system by seeking out donations, estate planning, philanthropy and sponsorships. She gets to go and talk to donors to invest in the health system. This is the 125th year of existence for BVH which started out as the “Findlay Home for Friendless Women and Children.”

A retired nurse with two daughters she fell in love with the hospital and it’s system after a tour. She spent seven years with the Hancock County Leadership and youth Leadership as part of the Chamber of Commerce prior to coming to the hospital in 1992. She was promoted to her current position in 2007.

A graduate from UPMC Hamot as a registered nurse she served in the surgical care unit in Pennsylvania and at Ohio State. Once she started her family she retired and stayed home for ten years. Her two daughters are grown and she now shares an empty nest with her best friend and husband Dan. They celebrated 31 yeas of marriage last week.

When not working for the hospital system she loves hanging out with friends, working on her house and yard. She has a close-knit group of girlfriends from PTO that is still going and they have a “mom’s night out.”
She also serves on the Children’s Mentoring Connection board and is a Eucharistic Minister at St Michael’s.

Her motto: “Do what you can, with what you have from where you are.”

She has had many mentors who have lifted and guided her. Her mom “trusted me, corrected and from first breath loved and believed in me.”
