Jane Roy

Jane Roy holds the honorary title of “Director of First Impressions” for the medical record department of Blanchard Valley Hospital. She is the first smiling face you see when you as a patient request copies of your records.

Jane has been at the hospital serving for her entire employment career. Her 35 years of service began at the age of 19 as a nurses aide. She progressed to housekeeping and then on to become a surgery assistant. She loved watching and assisting with the patients. She was able to see her first human heart during a surgery and that left a lasting impact on her. Twenty-one years ago she was injured in an accident and moved to record keeping. She has watched much progress as the hospital has gone to electronic records and the rows and rows of records have diminished greatly. She loves her job.

Born in Findlay in the new wing of the hospital she has stayed here her whole life. Jane graduated in 1978 from Findlay High School and went almost immediately to work. She has three brothers and one sister. Her mom still lives here in Findlay so family is close to her. Jane is proud of her daughter who is a nurse. Jane has two “grand kittens” and a rescue dog named Ebony.

Jane is an “old school” seamstress who hand makes bride and prom dresses to order. Her grandmother and mother both sewed and she picked up her skills from them. She also makes beanies and donates them to Chopin Hall.

Her role model in her mom Gert, whom she describes as “the rock of the family. She is the alpha female and gathers the family together regularly and taught me the importance of family.”
Jane sums up her advice to people in two words, “Play nice!’
