Steve Groman

The end of an era will come to pass December 31st when Steve Groman of Groman Music locks the door for the last time. Started in 1955 by his father, a music teacher who wanted to share the love of music with others, it has been the main place to obtain a piano in the area. Steve took over the store in 1981. He says changing times have led to the decision to close the doors. People are not turning to pianos for a choice for their children, keyboards can be purchased online and used pianos which used to be the “bread and butter of the business” are now sold on media sites rather than through his business. He will miss “helping people” the most as he leaves the business.

Steve was born in Bowling Green but moved to Findlay when he was two so he is 98% native! He married Dee 36 years ago and they have been blessed with two sons, Andy who is 34 and John who is 30. They also have two grandbabies aged 6 1/2 and 4. Steve enjoys Friday night dinners with his grand children and Saturday lunch with them at the store.

Steve graduated from Findlay High school in 1972. He attended several schools before earning an Associates degree in Computer Programming from Owens Community College.  Steve has been supported in his endeavor by his wife Dee who retired as an educator after 35 years, 32 of those in Findlay City schools. She is now a consultant for the Ohio Education Association. They plan to spend more time with grandbabies once the closing dust settles.
