Kellie Kehres
When Kellie Kehres learned her nephew had cancer she wanted to become involved in the fight for the cure.
She contacted the American Cancer Society and became a volunteer for the Cancer Relay for Life. She has been with the relay for 5 years now with 3 of them as the Chairperson. She also belongs to a team called the Smart Alec’s who get sponsors and then walk in shifts for 18 hours to raise money. Each year they have about 40 teams and 350 people participate.
In addition to the cancer relay Kellie also participates in the annual Festival of Trees fundraiser for the cancer society. She helps decorate a tree and organize the event which includes a silent auction.
Kellie is a busy person as she is also a manager at the local Panera bread store getting there at 5 a.m. to open up. She likes to cook, bake cakes and hosting dinner parties. In fair weather she likes to play golf.
She has 3 daughters, two of which are getting married this year…so she has no stress! Kellie has been married to Tom for 26 years and shares the home with 2 dogs and a cat named Dolce.
To her, family is everything, as her extended family is “very tight”. Her role model is her mom who was a single mom and a nurse and raised them to be loyal and love unconditional.
