Jane Riker
Some call Jane Riker a bird whisperer for her ability to attract and photograph numerous species both in her back yard and on birding field trips she takes.
Jane is a native Findlayite and graduated from Findlay High School in 1970. From there she went directly to work for Cooper Tire as a copy clerk. She spent 40 years with Cooper working her way up to the Retirement Medical Benefits Administrator.
She has 2 daughters and 2 sons, all grown.
She became very interested in birds at a young age seeing Gold Crown Kinglet and wondered what it was. From there it led to the library and on to a life time search for knowledge about birds. She belongs to the Hancock Park and Recreation as a Bluebird trails volunteer, is an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist as a bird specialist and for the last five years she had aided at the Springville marsh in the banding of migratory birds for science.
She loves to share her finds and has had other bird enthusiasts film her back yard for species such as a White wing Crossbill which is rare.
