Holly Wise

Last but not the least of our fabulous TEACHER WEEK we present Holly Wise, a kindergarten teacher at Northview Elementary school.

Holly has been a teacher for 14 years in the Findlay City School system. She has taught first, second grades but finds kindergarten to be her favorite grade. She loves their enthusiasm for learning, the wide span of knowledge base the children bring and especially all the hugs! “Not a day goes by without a lightbulb moment in the eyes of the students!” Holly enjoys full day classes as there is more time to make connections and it leaves time for fun activities.

Holly earned a K-8 Elementary Education degree from BGSU and a Masters degree in Administration from the University of Findlay in 2004. When asked if she wanted to be in administration she replied, “I am having too much fun in the classroom, too many Ah-hah moments from the children.”

Holly is married to Michael and they have a son and a daughter. This keeps them busy with basketball, orchestra, jazz band, symphonic band and dance! When she has a moment Holly likes to just “breathe and relax” and volunteer at Stonebridge church (where she is the lead pastor’s wife), including teaching little ones in Sunday school.

Her mentor was her kindergarten teacher in Bay City, Texas, a Miss O’Brian, whose love of school and all her hugs inspired Holly on the path to teaching. “She started the whole. I knew then I wanted to teach.”

Holly’s favorite saying is “Be a light!”. A light to her kiddos as it may be the only bit of love they get each day.
