Herve Pierre

Thanks to the great diversity of people here in Findlay we have been asked to be part of a group welcoming and celebrating diversity. This week we will highlight people who came from other countries to settle here in Findlay. Starting off the week is Herve Pierre who immigrated from Haiti.

Herve became associated with the US and especially Findlay through the Mission Possible ministry based here in Findlay. It is a non-denominational group working very hard in Haiti to help rebuild after its devastating earthquake. Herve is a Field Director for the mission and spends ½ his life here in the US and ½ in Haiti where he oversees seven schools and seven churches. His job is to supervise and train staff and pastors to be more independent. He himself is a minister having studied at the IMO Seminary International in Haiti.

He loves his country but brought his family here for safety when the political setting became dangerous. He is married to Yolonda and they have four children. “I brought them here for safety. It is important for the family to be together and they love snow more than me.”

Herve loves soccer as is a goalie both here and in Haiti. He speaks English, French and Creole. His son plays football at Liberty Benton so he is learning American Football.

Pastor Claude was a mentor to Herve teaching him discipline and how to be a good friend. “If I had any problems I could go to him.” Bienvenue Herve, to you and your family.
