Al Hatch

Al Hatch is a decorated Army Veteran and has lived a remarkable life.
He was born in Utah and was a “military brat.” So much so that he went to 7 different schools just in the first grade. Later in life he would follow in his fathers footsteps and joined the Army as a second Lt. after graduating from E Kentucky University. He was assigned as a artillery officer and sent as an air borne ranger with the First Calvary on a 13 month tour to Vietnam. From there he served stateside and then on to Korea. He has served numerous tours worldwide with several in Europe. He retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving 27 years. His last assignment was Senior Advisor to the Army reserve in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus.
While on duty in Georgia he earned a Master’s in Public Administration which would serve him well in civilian life after he retired. He enjoyed his service very much . When he retired he wife encouraged him to find other interests so he worked at the Findlay City Schools as the business manager. From there he became the City Administrator for Northwood, Ohio for five years and then on to the City of Carey in the same position. Then for 11 years Al was in charge of Pinkerton security at Cooper Tire.
He is a transplanted Findlayite moving his family here in 1976. Al met his sweetheart Jill at college in E. Kentucky as he was on the swim team with her. They have been married for 57 years and have two grown children who have given him 4 grandbabies.
In his retirement Al and Jill travel quite a bit in their RV with their 3 cocker spaniels. Together they have visited every state but North Dakota and Maine. He is active in Rotary and also works as an election polls officer.
His motto, from his father, is as follows, “Live each day so on the morrow you can look at everyone and say I did my best.”
His role model was his maternal grandfather Evans who was a jack of all trades and taught his children well. He also credits his father and father-in-law for being great inspiration’s to him. Salute!!
